Reflection: 2.5.17
I have changed my classroom around to try and settle the behaviour students and have taken away the tables and re-introduced desks which the boys had asked me to do. They said that they preferred to sit at desks so I have let them with their assurance that they will respect and look after them (no writing or banging them shut). Down the back of the room I have made a seperate little area so specificstudents that are always behaving, on task and doing their work are able to sit and have quiet time to themselves. I am envisioning that other student's behaviour may improve so they can also have turns in there.
2017 Goals
Goal #1: To meet the needs of all students in Room R Maths Swap class by delivering a programme which aims to accelerate learning for all students.

Goal #2: To develop my understanding of learning styles that accelerate boys' learning through PB4L strategies that grow self-management.

Reflection: 12.4.17
Student management is really not going well at the moment.
Boys are so busy being mean and nasty to each other and vying for top dog
position that little learning is taking place. Some of this is due to new
students arriving and old ones coming back after having a couple of weeks off.
I am wearing myself out as well so that is also to be considered. Having 17 boys and 4 girls is hard work and I
find myself not coping too well. Need to do more research during the holidays
and some discussions with other colleagues who I know will support and listen
to me. As the term comes to an end I am very tired and really looking forward
to a rest. Maybe if I come back with a more focussed mindset I can motivate
these boys !!!
Reflection: 26.3.17
Still need to get onto sorting something fun for students
who are always on task. Alizei has left
very suddenly so that has made me quite sad as she was just sorting herself out
a lot better and becoming quite a leader in our room, I will miss her as will
the class. There are now 17 boys in class and four girls. At the moment I am
reading about ways to keep boys motivated and fair play skills. Talking to
others to get ideas to keep myself motivated as well as I am feeling quite
drained. Reading is going well and I have just changed my task board around to
keep up the interest.
Reflection: 13.03.2017
Have another new student today and he is a target and TW has
decided he is his best friend so they are both teaming up. I need to see what
other teachers are doing in these circumstances before I go crazy. I seem to
have so many targets and behaviour students in my class. I need to do something
nice to show the hard workers in this class just how much I appreciate them and
that I have not forgotten them!!! I need a plan of action!!! I also need to
look after myself as I am feeling really drained at the moment.
Reflection: 4.4.17
Going
to room STU for reading with the new entrants is working so far as each day TW
is excited about going over to read with them, feedback from teachers has been
all positive so will continue for now and revisit next term.
Reflection: 28.02.2017
Have new student in class today but I am on CRT so not
there, Alan has said he is coping well so that is good news. Very important for
me that he settles in comfortably and wants to come back tomorrow! T W has been
off task and really tired this week, we are trying out a notebook system home
each day to mum but not much response there at the moment. Am going to trail
TW’s reading group going over to room STU to listen to 3 students reading, lots
of praise for this and interaction. I see TW as having great nurturing skills
from observing him with his little brother so want to hook into these skills
and set him up for success.

Reflection 13.02.2017
Slowly getting class settled, some students going to other
classes and one student leaving permanently, and one new member. High
percentage of boys in class at the moment and they are going through the
pecking order and forming friendships. Girls have sorted themselves into a group of
two and three. Bullying issues are coming up with complaints about TW from
other students. He is not happy that he
now has to share his teacher aide and is giving her and others a tough time. This is impacting on setting up my classroom routines as I am trying to figure out what students work well together before forming learning groups.
